The Master Cleanse Experience- Day 1

Almost Ended Before I Even Began

So you know how you get an idea in your head and you are so excited about it that you just rush of and do it? Well, immediately after posting the Master Cleanse Experience I realized that not only did I have the Super Bowl coming up but a couple of my friends birthdays too! So much for planning! Upon this realization I was almost 100% ready to postpone the entire experience for a time period that would make it less difficult to maintain the cleanse. I even had it squared away in my mind that I was going to just have to wait a couple more days before starting. Yet here I am with Day 1 of my Master Cleanse Experience completed. What happened you asked? This very blog is what kept me going. Something about already having my intentions posted online for the world to see really made it difficult to back out. So as I wind down on my successful first day of the cleanse I must acknowledge that if it wasn't for this blog I definitely wouldn't have made it this far so soon.

Day 1- And We Are Off!

Day 1 actually started off with an air of anticipation. I actually overslept a bit and really had to hustle during the preparation of the lemonade for the day. Seeing as I have a job and didn't have time to prepare  freshly squeezed 8 ounces of lemonade drinks throughout the day I decided I would just multiply the recipe and make 64 ounces of lemonade all at once. Making the drink actually took less time than I thought. Its amazing how much juice you can squeeze out of those little yellow suckers. Into the 64 ounce container I put 16 table spoons of lemon juice and maple syrup. Being a bit uneasy about the cheyenne pepper, I did decide to scale back a bit and only put about half a table spoon where I should have probably put more like 80% of that table spoon right in there. Oh well, I figured Id test the waters first.

Hunger Wakes Up Early

I was never much for breakfast but as it turns out this morning I found myself looking for a meal. Once at work I immediately started sipping on the lemonade to see if it would abate the hunger pains. To my rather happy relief it did! Unfortunately I found myself almost snacking on the lemonade and by mid morning my first 32 ounces were gone. I wasnt too excited about drinking half of my daily allowable intake in just a couple of hours and decided to ration myself a bit and refilled my 32 ounce container I had at work with water. As it turns out, reducing the amount of pepper into the lemonade made it all that much easier to drink and perhaps less effective. I plan on going for at least an entire table spoon tomorrow.

Running On Empty

Another bit of info that didn't really hit me until this morning is that I wouldn't be able to have my morning coffee. This shows you how mentally prepared I actually was for this cleanse. Of course this left me pretty tired all morning and surprisingly for the rest of the day. I honestly am just glad I managed to dodge the caffeine withdrawal headaches I usually get. Fortunately, being tired gave me the excuse to take a quick nap during my lunch allowing me to escape the aroma of various fast food items in the office during lunch.

Out of Juice, Out of Time

At the end of the work day I had already exhausted my supply of lemonade but had managed to make it through the day more tired than hungry. Infact, dealing with hunger later on the day was almost a non-issue. The workday went by rather quickly and once I got home there were just so many things to do that the opportunity to want to eat was fleeting at most. Day 1 done!

Lessons...

 1. Plan ahead and choose a window that would make it easier to stay on the cleanse by avoiding special events or holidays.

2. Dont skimp on the cheyanne pepper. As much as you can stand will go a long way.

Catch you guys at the end of Day 2!
